pet ownersThe Macarthur region has been awarded a Responsible Pet Ownership Grant.

The $15,000 grant will help fund Campbelltown City Council’s Community Animal Welfare Scheme (CAWS).

Member for Campbelltown, Bryan Doyle and Member for Camden, Chris Patterson have welcomed the grant.

“CAWS is a subsidized program which provides discounted micro-chipping and vaccination,” Mr Doyle said.

Mr Patterson said, “This will mean the financial costs involved in de-sexing and micro-chipping are no longer a barrier for many families in the community.”

The Responsible Pet Ownership Grant scheme, launched last year, aims to provide funding to councils to target programs which will increase micro chipping, lifetime registration and de-sexing rates as well as address dangerous dog issues in the community.

Applications for round two of the program will be called early next month.
