In less than one year since being elected, the Albanese Labor Government has improved the lives of residents of Werriwa, says MP Anne Stanley.
“The Albanese Labor Government is focused on taking pressure off families,” says the Member for Werriwa.
“Since being elected we have cut the cost of prescription medications, secured a pay rise for millions of Australians, delivered fee-free TAFE places, and so much more.’’
Measures set to come into force from July will also make a real difference to household budgets in her electorate, says Ms Stanley.
“Local families will benefit significantly from Labor’s cheaper child care reforms,’’ she said.
“We’re taking the pressure off families, and helping more women get back into the workforce.
“From July, families will also benefit from Labor strengthening paid parental leave.
“The Albanese Labor Government is delivering the positive change that Australians voted for – and making a real difference here in Werriwa.”
Ms Stanley has this week also welcomed delivery of a key election commitment by the Albanese Government – strengthening GP practices.
The Strengthening Medicare – General Practice (GP) grants program will allow all general practices and eligible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to expand patient access and improve their services.
Smaller practices are eligible for grants of $25,000 or $35,000, and larger practices are eligible for grants of $50,000.
“Getting access to health care is at the top of the list of concerns when I talk to locals in Werriwa,’’ says Ms Stanley.
“This will give a much-needed boost to general practices across the country.
“I’m proud to be part of a government that recognises the hard work of our GPs.”
