Three years ago, the committee running Macarthur Retired and Former Police Association of NSW decided to raise funds for worthwhile causes via an annual charity golf day.
The first effort in 2023 raised funds for defibrillators, with the life saving equipment installed in police vehicles at local stations in South West Sydney.
Last year, the golf day proceeds of more than $15,500 went to the Menangle rural fire brigade (pictured above).
On May 29 of this year, the third charity golf day will be held, once again at Camden Lakeside.
Stephen Reeves, the current welfare officer and event manager, says the committee are asking local businesses to come on board as sponsors once again of what is a very good cause.
“Following last year’s success, we are happy to advise that this year’s golf day will again be held at Lakeside Golf Club,’’ says Mr Reeves.
“We have chosen the Campbelltown Hospital special care nursery as the beneficiary this year.
“We are hoping to raise enough money to buy a KanMED baby bed warmer system ‘hot cot’ which is used in the special care nursery.
“The hot cot is a controlled warmed cot environment that allows the baby to be swaddled and nested,’’ Mr Reeves explained.
“It is sad to see that around one in five babies are admitted to neonatal intensive care or special care nursery due to prematurity, respiratory, sepsis or infections – and the list goes on.
“That’s why we ask business to support this charity golf day – your support does make a difference,’’ Mr Reeves said.
Business can help by either entering a team of four for the Ambrose event or donations.
