Local boxer Daniel Geale will be one of the presenters at tonight’s South West Academy of Sport graduation dinner, which will break some of its own rexcords.

All eyes will be on Rio tomorrow morning as the Olympic Games get under way.

But tonight another local sport event will be breaking records of its own closer to home.

The 2016 South West Sydney Academy of Sport annual graduation and sports awards dinner is officially a sell-out.

There will be more than 500 guests attending a night when the spotlight will be on the achievements of high achieving current and former Academy athletes.

The Campbelltown Catholic Club’s the Cube entertainment and convention centre is once again the venue and academy chief executive Gerry Knights is very excited about tonight’s function.

“This year has once again broken all Academy records with regard to athlete numbers, new sports and high athlete achievements,’’ Mr Knights said.

“And judging by the number of State sporting CEOs, Federal, State and Local government representatives attending, the word must be getting out about the enormous community value of the Academy and its achievements.

“Heading a five star list of sports presenters will be our very own boxing champion Daniel Geale and local marathon athlete Jeff Hunt,’’ Mr Knights said.

“The evening will have an Olympic Games theme and as past Olympians our two local boys will be able to tell their very own personal stories to our upcoming athletes.’’

Many of the academy’s highly talented local, State and Australian representative will swap the sport gear for formalwear to attend the graduation dinner.

Mr Knights said the evening will be a mixture of sporting hero presentations and live performance entertainment intermingled with sports award presentations.

“And possibly the best ever sporting memorabilia silent auction ever seen in Sydney’s south west,’’ he said.

Mr Knights said on behalf of the academy he wanted to wish all Australian athletes in Rio well.

“I am sure they will all do their very best and make us proud,’’ he said.
