Eschol Park arrest: man, 32, faces string of drug, firearm charges

An associate of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) has been arrested at Eschol Park on outstanding warrants and charged with drug and firearms offences.

Detectives from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor and Macquarie Fields Local Area Command commenced an investigation last month into the supply of methylamphetamine in the South West region of Sydney.

Following extensive inquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested by investigators at a home in Eschol Park on Wednesday evening (July 26).

Officers located a shortened .22 calibre rifle in the backyard, which was seized for forensic examination.

A crime scene warrant was executed at the home shortly after, where police seized ammunition, a scope, mobile phones, encrypted mobile phones, ice, MDMA and steroids.

In addition, officers located a boxed clandestine laboratory, which was later examined and dismantled by officers from the Drug Squad’s Chemical Operations Team.

The man was taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station and charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and an unregistered prohibited firearm.

He will also faces charges of acquiring a prohibited firearm subject to FPO, possessing ammunition, acquire ammunition subject to FPO, not keeping a firearm safe, resisting arrest and two outstanding warrants for possessing a firearm and revocation of parole.

He was also charged with a further 11 offences including the possession and supply of prohibited drugs, which relate to items seized during a search warrant at a business at Minto on July last year.

The Minto man was refused bail and appeared at Campbelltown Local Court yesterday (Thursday, July 27), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday, September 27.

Investigations are continuing.
