Sitting MP Russell Matheson says Labor is getting  desperate in the last few days of a long election campaign.

He says they should apologise for an incident which made the new on national TV last night.

“Earlier today, there was an incident at the Ingleburn pre-poll booth,’’ Mr Matheson said in a statement released to the media last night.

“A Liberal volunteer, aged in his 70s, was pushed over by a Labor volunteer.

“The AEC contacted the police. Both the police and the ambulance service attended the scene.

“The Liberal volunteer is now recovering at home.

“I was not at the booth when the incident occurred or at any stage today before the incident, but I do know that Labor is becoming increasingly desperate and aggressive in my local area.

“This kind of behaviour is completely inappropriate and I call on the Labor Party to apologise for the behaviour of their volunteer.’’

Back on the election campaign trail, Mr Matheson has promised that a reelected Turnbull Government will give Macarthur Disability Services $20,000 for an inclusive playground at Oran Park, a first for Macarthur if it goes ahead

The playground is part of Mick Doohan Reserve, a regional sporting part with two multipurpose ovals, tennis courts and hard courts, cricket practice nets, amenities and picnic shelters.

The allocated area for the playground will be 3,600 square metres.

Macarthur Disability Services issued the following statement: “MDS would like to thank the Federal Member for Macarthur, Russell Matheson, for his generous financial contribution towards the Oran Park Inclusive Playground project.

Playground would be a first for Macarthur

“This inclusive play area is a first for the Macarthur area and a facility that will bring great enjoyment to local families, as well as promote social inclusion amongst children of all abilities.”

Mr Matheson said there are a significant proportion of people in Oran Park living with a disability.

“This project will invite and encourage people of all ages to be part of a community,” he said.

“Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to helping people living with disabilities, so I am delighted the Turnbull Team is yet again delivering for our local community here in Macarthur.’’
