Car driver charged after Edmondson Park fatal crash

Police investigators have charged a man following a fatal two vehicle crash in Edmondson Park on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to Soldiers Parade, outside Edmondson Park Railway Station around noon, following a crash between a motorcycle and a Toyota Camry.

Despite attempts to revive him, the motorcycle rider, a 24-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, officers arrested the 37-year-old man before he was taken to Liverpool Police Station.

There he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death, and not give way at lights to an oncoming vehicle (right turn).

The Edmondson Park man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Monday, July 13.

Investigations are continuing and police are calling on anyone who may have seen the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
