You could say Kathleen Jones has been around the clock a few times. How many times? Well, last Tuesday, July 21, she celebrated her 105th birthday (pictured above).
Asked what advice she’d give her 20-year-old self, her answer was: Live life with passion and never be afraid to fail.
Simple but powerful at the same time.
Born in 1921, Kathleen Jones forged a successful career as a pharmacist before embracing a retirement filled with the things she loved most.
She spent countless hours completing crosswords, writing letters, gardening, singing with St Peter’s Church choir and travelling across Australia on camping adventures through the outback.
A true adventurer at heart, Kathleen fondly recalls exploring the Australian outback as one of the greatest experiences of her life.
Her love of music led to lifelong friendships through the church choir, while her passion for gardening and the outdoors kept her closely connected to nature.
Ms Jones celebrated her 105th birthday at Whiddon Easton Park in Glenfield, where she has been a resident for more than three years.
It seems she still enjoys many of the simple routines that have brought her joy throughout her life, from chatting with close friends over the phone to keeping up with the news daily, a comforting ritual that helps her stay connected to the world around her.
Whiddon has provided care to older Australians for more than 75 years.
