Domestic violence call at Gregory Hills ends with arrest

A man was due to appear in court today after he allegedly assaulted two police officers at Gregory Hills on Sunday night.

The incident occurred when officers from Camden Police Area Command attended a home on Rosella Circuit following reports of a domestic incident.

Police spoke with the occupants, a 51-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl – who were uninjured – before approaching a 51-year-old man in the front room of the home.

As officers attempted to speak to the man he allegedly became aggressive and punched the senior constable and constable in the head.

A taser was deployed and after a short struggle the man was arrested. He was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Narellan Police Station.

The man was charged with assault, damaging property, two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

He was refused bail and was due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today.

The two officers were assessed at the scene after sustaining minor bruising and swelling.

Strike Force Trawler detectives have charged a man over the alleged possession of child abuse material.

In July this year detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) began investigating a man allegedly accessing and obtaining child abuse material online.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Woodbine last week.

During the search, officers seized a mobile phone and electronic devices, which will undergo further examination.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today.

A disqualified driver has been charged after a female motorcyclist died in a crash at Moorebank on the weekend.

About 11.35pm on Saturday emergency services were called to the intersection of Heathcote Road and the M5 at Moorebank, after reports a Honda HRV wagon and a motorcycle had collided.

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old woman, was stopped at the lights when she was struck from behind by the Honda CRV.

She was treated on the scene for serious head and internal injuries by ambulance paramedics and was taken to Liverpool Hospital; however, she died in hospital on Sunday morning.

The Honda driver – a 32-year-old man from Doonside, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment for back injuries. He also underwent mandatory testing.

Following inquiries, the driver was arrested at Liverpool Hospital and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged. He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.
