We deserve much better on our hospital: Greg Warren

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has again urged the NSW Government to address the chronic staffing shortages at Campbelltown Hospital.

Mr Warren, pictured with local residents outside the hospital in 2019, introduced a Notice of Motion in the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Assembly on Wednesday moving that the house:

  • Acknowledge the supply of staff at Campbelltown Hospital is unable to cope with the growing demand of patients;
  • Recognises this is a long-standing issue;
  • Demands the Government acknowledge, address and resolve this issue once and for all.

The short supply of hospital staff was highlighted in the last Bureau of Health Information quarterly report (April – June 2022) which showed only 39.4 percent of patients presenting to Campbelltown Hospital’s emergency department (ED) left within the benchmark four-hour period.

“Residents in Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region have known for years that our hard working and dedicated staff at Campbelltown Hospital simply can’t cope with the ever-increasing volume of patients,” Mr Warren said.

“The NSW Liberals are well aware of this situation as well given I have raised the matter on numerous occasions.

“A NSW parliamentary inquiry also identified the issue.

“We all know there is a chronic shortage of staff yet the NSW Government refuse to acknowledge, address and resolve the issue.

“That’s why only four in 10 patients left Campbelltown Hospital’s ED within the benchmark four-hour period in April and June this year.

“We deserve much, much better,” the Labor MP said.
