South Western Sydney will be the hottest ticket in town in spring and summer as arts and culture take over the streets during evening events in Campbelltown, Camden and Liverpool.

The NSW Government’s Culture Up Late program provides support for programs involving parties, arts shows, live music, walking tours and cuisine across local arts venues, museums, galleries and cultural centres in Greater Western Sydney.

Funding has been approved for arts and cultural organisations to develop new programs, engage new audiences and create vibrant local precincts connecting local restaurants, bars, retailers, and transport providers through activations targeted to an after 5pm audience.

The South Western Sydney successful grant recipients sharing in $1.9 million in funding are Camden Cultural Fusion, Campbelltown Arts Centre (pictured above) and Casula Powerhouse arts centre.

Campbelltown Arts Centre will open Thursday, selected Friday and Saturday evenings (5–9pm), November 2023–January 2024, to present a range of multi-artform artist-led programs aimed at extended engagement with artists, local communities and visitors, under the banner Sundown Sessions.

Exhibition tours, creative activations, live music and family-friendly workshops driven by community interests and creative, social and economic outcomes will be part of Sundown Sessions.

Camden’s after 5 program will invite audiences to immerse themselves in a multi-faceted cultural extravaganza that combines live performance, inspiring art, bustling markets, and soul-stirring music.

It will showcase a diverse range of live performance and mesmerising dance.

“We are declaring war on the lure of the couch with these night time cultural events,’’ says NSW arts minister John Graham.

“The program ensures that culture up late funding extends to Western Sydney.

“The Western Sydney Culture Up Late program showcases some of the most exciting cultural offerings Sydney has to offer. These precincts are already key cultural destinations, and this coming spring to summer they’ll become undoubtedly Sydney’s must-visit locations.’’

  1. Camden LAC will not allow for a greater late night trading for Licensed premises, that match Campbelltown, Liverpool and most of Sydney. When asked they have no response
