Camden Council says it has shown its commitment to the health and safety of the community and its staff by officially registering major facilities as Covid Safe.

The Oran Park administration building, Camden civic centre, Oran Park, Camden (pictured) and Narellan libraries, the Alan Baker art gallery and Mount Annan leisure centre were the council facilities which became registered as Covid Safe businesses recently.

Covid Safe is a NSW Government program established to support businesses to keep the community safe from the Covid-19 virus.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was important for council to lead the way as residents return to their normal lives.

“Community safety is of paramount importance to Camden Council and this step ensures our facilities are safe to be used as we fight the Covid-19 pandemic,” Cr Fedeli said.

“As part of our registration, council will display signs across its facilities to show its commitment to having a Covid Safe plan in place.

“This is also a timely reminder for residents to get tested if they show any flu-like symptoms, stay home if you feel unwell, regularly wash your hands and take care of your loved ones.

“I am proud to see Camden Council has become a Covid Safe registered business and believe if we all work together, we can come through it strongly and successfully.”

In April this year Camden Council announced a $16.8 million Covid-19 support package for residents and local businesses suffering from the economic shock of the pandemic.
