A NSW Ambulance paramedic based at the Liverpool Hospital superstation yesterday tested positive to Covid-19.

The paramedic is being treated in hospital.

The paramedic’s family and colleagues are being supported by NSW Ambulance while the source of the infection is under investigation.

All close contacts of the paramedic, including health care workers and patients, are being identified and isolated.

The infection brings the number of people in the Liverpool local government area who have tested positive to Covid-19 to 50.

NSW Health figures updated on April 22 show that since the pandemic started there have been 38 Covid-19 cases in Camden, 34 in Campbelltown (no change from a week ago) 30 in Fairfield and 24 in the Southern Highlands.

NSW Health says there have now been 2,976 people across the state who have tested positive to the virus, and 2,006 of those have fully recovered.

There are currently 219 Covid-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. This includes 21 people being treated in Intensive Care Units, with 15 of those requiring ventilators.

And in other Covid-19 news, two of four GP-led, Commonwealth-funded respiratory clinics have now opened in the South West Sydney health district. The new GP Respiratory Clinics are located in Campbelltown and Mittagong.

Two more clinics will open in Fairfield and Picton in the coming weeks.
The clinics are designed to assess patients with mild-to-moderate respiratory symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough, tiredness and shortness of breath.

Regardless of whether Covid-19 testing is indicated, or a specimen is taken, the patient will receive clinical guidance about managing their respiratory symptoms through the clinic.

Patients must have an appointment before attending the clinic.
To set up an appointment patients can phone the clinic directly for triage, be referred by their GP or undertake the health direct symptom checker and referral process.
