Macarthur South West Sydney (MSWS) A-League club have announced they will be rolling out more community forums after the successful take up of the first one this Thursday in the Cube, Campbelltown Catholic Club.

MSWS say the Campbelltown forum already had to be moved from the Campbelltown Arts Centre and is close to a sell out at the much bigger venue in the Catholic Club.

But MSWS chairman Lang Walker says the organisation has been very active on other fronts as well.

“Since our club became the successful 12th Hyundai A League expansion team, we have been busy meeting with the local community, local primary schools, high schools, universities, National Premiership League (NPL) clubs, business leaders, football associations and member clubs.

“We have also met with state and federal members of parliament and local government across the South West Sydney region,’’ says Mr Walker.

“Macarthur South West Sydney is committed to ensuring that we continue to engage with the local community as we want to make sure that the team is something that the whole community can be proud of.

“We will continue this engagement to ensure that we are building this club from the ground up,’’ he said.

“Community is what we are all about and we want to ensure that we are not just successful on the field but off it.’’

MSW deputy chairman Gino Marra said a community survey being rolled out to more than 80,000 people, along with the forums, were aimed at helping the organisation decide on a name, colours and mascot.

“This will be one of the largest community engagements in football history in this country,” he said.

Mayor of Campbelltown George Brticevic said: “This is a once in a lifetime experience for our community to have a say in the development of their team from day one. “It is great to hear there has been such a fantastic response to the first forum and I am looking forward to hearing the ideas our community has through the forums, survey and all of the community consultation that will be happening in the coming months.”
