Campbelltown MP Greg Warren today beat the heat by hosting a celebration in Mawson Park early in the morning.
The morning tea barbecue was held to celebrate the success of local community groups which were successful in applying for funding under the Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.
Representatives from 10 of the 15 local community organisations and sporting groups that had projects funded under the CBP joined Mr Warren and other guests this morning.
“It’s great to be able to support so many local organisations and the great work they do through the Community Building Partnership program,’’ Mr Warren said.
“Whether it’s a new barbecue for Campbelltown Rotary Club, upgrades to several local sporting fields, new playgrounds at local schools or fixing up the electrical system at our heritage Town Hall Theatre, there’s something in the CBP program for everyone.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Each and every one of the almost 30 projects that have been funded through the CBP program over the past two years has involved countless people working tirelessly on their grant applications.[/social_quote]
“This barbecue is about saying thank you to those people and celebrating their successes, and I’m honoured to be able to support them and the CBP program in this way.”
The local MP said $300,000 worth of projects were being funded across Campbelltown this year.
Federal Member for Macarthur Dr Mike Freelander joined the Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic and Labor councillors Karen Hunt, Rey Manoto, Margaret Chivers and Darcy Lound at the celebration.
Campbelltown City Council contributed $85,000 for projects on top of the $300,000 from the NSW Government.
Mr Warren said the barbecue was about celebrating the successes of the organisations receiving funding, and promoting the Community Building Partnership program ahead of 2017 applications opening in July.
