The finalised plans for the station precincts at Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn, Minto, Leumeah, Campbelltown and Macarthur will result in thousands of new homes and jobs in the next two to three decades.
Following extensive community feedback on the draft Glenfield to Macarthur urban renewal corridor strategy, the NSW Government today released the finalised plans.
Campbelltown City Council general manager Lindy Deitz welcomed the release of the final precinct plans.
“Macarthur has been earmarked to complement Campbelltown as a key centre with world class health facilities, integrated educational institutions, a mix of housing types, a premier retail precinct and great public and open spaces,” Ms Deitz said.
“The revised strategy will guide development in this key area now that rezoning can occur.

Department of Planning and Environment deputy secretary Brendan Nelson said the finalised plans will provide the strategy to revitalise communities along the key train line from Macquarie Fields to Macarthur with new homes, jobs, services and green open space.
Mr Nelson said these plans outline land uses for these station precincts and now rezoning can occur.
“These plans will be the stepping stones to accelerate Campbelltown’s transformation into a university and medical city, bringing jobs and services to Macarthur,” Mr Nelson said.
“The plans identify the opportunities for new roads, parks, sports and community facilities and homes while maintaining the character of these areas, particularly their corridors of open spaces.
“We want to revitalise these areas around key transport infrastructure and provide a range of housing choice so families and extended families can live close to one another and near jobs in the regional city of Campbelltown, and the proposed Western Sydney Airport.”
♦ Some of the changes to the plans include:
• Giving Campbelltown Council more flexibility to plan for future public areas and parks, particularly the ability to provide more active open space;
• Providing more flexibility around heights of development in the Leumeah, Campbelltown and Macarthur precincts, recognising their opportunities and connections;
• Increasing potential building heights for mixed use development in the Macquarie Fields precinct to fit in with the surrounding area.
In response to the proposed relocation of the Hurlstone Agricultural High School, the Department of Planning and Environment is updating the Glenfield precinct plan.
The revised Glenfield plan will be on public exhibition for comment during 2018 along with a proposed special infrastructure contribution for the corridor.
All feedback will be considered before the plan is finalised.
Any planning proposals will need to be consistent with the relevant precinct plan.
