Join in the fun and dress up as your favourite comic book character when HJ Daley Library celebrates the amazing world of comic books and superheroes this Saturday.
Held annually on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day sees comic book shops from around the world team up with publishers to give away millions of comic books.
Working in partnership with KINGS Comics, Sydney’s largest comic store, HJ Daley Library will be part of this worldwide event, with comic books to give away (while stocks last), character meet and greets, games, craft and a visit from comic book artist Matt Lin, creator of The Fish Boy and Squid Girl Chronicles.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said council was pleased to support a fun event that encouraged people of all ages to visit the library and learn about the resources that are available.
“From comic books and local history to free Wi-Fi and downloadable music, our libraries offer a huge range of resources, and cater for all ages and interests,” Cr Hawker said.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Libraries aren’t the silent places they used to be when I was young.[/social_quote]
“They are dynamic, active, plugged in and vibrant – but most importantly, they are the places where people can come together to share their ideas and interests.
“Campbelltown City branch libraries offer a diverse range programs and activities, as well as the traditional borrowing and lending service, and I encourage residents to visit their local library and make the most of the resources offered,” Cr Hawker said.
