The Campbelltown community is being urged to get behind a Christmas Toy Drive for children affected by domestic and family violence.
The State Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren is behind Christmas Toy Drive.
“I am doing this to ensure those families doing it tough this Christmas will still have some joy and cause for celebration,’’ says Mr Warren.
He is asking locals to rally behind these families and buy a gift for a child as part of his Christmas Toy Drive.
Local shopping centre Macarthur Square has already got behind the initiative as a corporate sponsor, and sees it as their way of giving back to Campbelltown.
“When you consider the terrible circumstances these families endure, it is really important these kids have something on Christmas Day,” Mr Warren said.
“It is important these mothers, together with their children, have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas together.’’
The Member for Campbelltown is encouraging individuals to deliver unwrapped gifts to his office at Shop 3, 72 Queen Street, Campbelltown, so the mothers can put the personal finishing touches to the parcels.
“The simple pleasure of wrapping a gift for your child and watching their face as they open it on Christmas day is truly a precious moment for any parent,” said Mr Warren, himself the father of two young children.
“This is an opportunity to provide some happiness to these brave women and their children.
“I hope the community again gets behind this initiative and together we can create some festive cheer for those less fortunate than ourselves.’’
