Every Christmas for the past 10 years Campbelltown’s famous spirit of generosity has reached new heights.
Locals have bought into the annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, which makes the festive season a little brighter for struggling families.
Mayor George Brticevic hopes that generous spirit will prevail once again and the appeal is a huge success in 2017.
“The appeal has been running for more than a decade, and I’m proud our community gives generously year in and year out, thinking of others at a time of year which can be particularly difficult for some people,” Cr Brticevic said.
“Gifts collected through the appeal are distributed at the Macarthur Combined Churches annual Christmas luncheon, and last year more than 300 gifts were given out to the more than 200 people who attended the luncheon.
“I encourage locals to support the appeal, and share the Christmas spirit with their fellow residents who can’t afford to put presents under the tree or prepare a special Christmas dinner.”
The appeal is seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys, gifts and non-perishable food items.
Items can be placed in the Christmas donation box located in the main foyer of Council’s Civic Centre building, on the corner of Queen and Broughton Streets.
Second hand or wrapped items are unable to be accepted.
Donations can also be left in collection boxes at library branches across Campbelltown City.
Donations can be made until 4.30pm on Wednesday, December 20.
