Look out, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is about to land in Camden next month.

This magical musical adventure will come to life on the local stage thanks to the Camden Musical Society.

One of the highlights of this production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be the flying car, named, obviously, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Created by local resident Laurie Boardman, the biggest challenge was having this set piece engineered to be dynamic and fit for purpose on the Civic Centre stage.

That’s all good now and this production is set to be a hit for both those that loved the classic movie and anyone yet to experience Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

A heart warming story with catchy songs, costumes and sets, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a show for all ages.

Camden Musical Society, the local community theatre group, has been active since 2019.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang follows their other recent successful productions Seussical (2021), Villains and Vixens (2022) and High School Musical 2 Jnr (2022).

Directed by Kerrie Jiear and produced by an exceptionally passionate group of behind the scenes volunteers, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang boasts a talented cast of local performers who will bring the iconic characters to life on stage.

From the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts to the lovable Truly Scrumptious, and the infamous Baron and Baroness Bomburst, audiences will be enchanted by the unforgettable characters and their thrilling adventures.

“Come and see this fantasmagorical musical in your own backyard here in Camden,’’ says Kerrie Jiear.

“We truly have a fantastic cast of performers that will make you laugh out loud and want to sing along with the iconic songs.

“Our flying car is spectacular and will be fun to watch in itself.’’

With performances over two weekends, May 5 and 6, and May 12 and 13 with matinee and evening options, there are plenty of opportunities to catch this must-see production at the Camden Civic Centre.
