From fun arts and crafts for primary school kids to a fiesta celebrating post WWII immigration to the chance to bag bargain books, February is set to be a busy month at Liverpool’s local libraries.
“Our fantastic libraries have a number of interesting events planned for February, including arts and crafts for kids and the ever popular annual book sale,” said Liverpool City Mayor Ned Mannoun.
“It’s fantastic that the Liverpool Regional Museum will celebrate the contribution of European migrants following WWII to our nation at the Coming to Australia Fiesta – especially with food and dance – and that our Hindi community can have their say on what items they’d like to read and enjoy as part of the Library’s collection.”
Coming to Australia Fiesta: Saturday, February 7, 10am-2pm, Liverpool Regional Museum
The Coming to Australia Fiesta celebrates the contribution of post-WWII immigration to the nation. Featuring a focus on food, including Italian sauce-making demonstrations, wine and beer making lessons and sausage making classes, you can also learn the art of bocce or try your hand at Greek, Polish and Italian folk dancing. Bookings for demonstrations essential on 9821 9422. For car lovers, a display of Italian cars will be on show, thanks to the Italian Made Social Motoring Club.
Annual Library Book Sale: Saturday, February 14, 10am-3pm, Liverpool City Library
Bag a bargain and help Liverpool’s libraries purchase new books at the annual Library Book Sale. Don’t miss out – doors open from 10am.
Cool place @ mylibrary: Throughout February, various locations.
For one hour each month during school terms, primary school aged kids can get stuck into a range of creative activities including arts and craft, storytelling and games at their local library. Bookings at all branches except Liverpool City Library commence on February 2 and monthly thereafter (no bookings required at Liverpool City Library). Programs will run from 4-5pm.
