A screening of Military Wives, a movie that celebrates a band of misfit women who form a choir on a military base, will be part of Camden’s celebration of 2020 International Women’s Day.

Residents are invited to attend the premiere screening of Military Wives at United Cinemas Narellan on Wednesday, March 12.

Unexpected bonds of friendship flourish in Military Wives as music and laughter transforms the lives of the misfits while they help each other during combat.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the movie would be screened in partnership with Camden-Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee.

“I’m proud to be celebrating more than 39,000 women living in the Camden area and their contribution to, not only their loved ones, but to the entire community,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We’re also strongly committed to the prevention of domestic and family violence and this is another way to show the importance of women.”

Camden-Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee convenor Tanya Whitehouse said she was proud to be involved in an event promoting gender equality.

“I think as a community we should celebrate the versatility of women and strive to all work together so that women and men view themselves as equal,” Ms Whitehouse said.
