discover the wonderful world of libraries
How often do you visit your local library?

Children, mums, dads and carers are invited to rediscover the magic of their local libraries with National Simultaneous Storytime next Wednesday, May  25.

A special reading of I got this hat by Jol and Kate Temple and illustrated by Jon Foye will be one of the highlights of the event.

Campbelltown City Council’s library branches will again participate in the initiative, held annually during Library and Information Week and aimed at encouraging more young Australians to read and enjoy books.

To be celebrated between May 20 and 26, this year’s Library and Information Week theme is Discover more, highlighting the many services and facilities on offer and encouraging communities to connect with their local libraries.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said Library and Information Week aimed to raise the profile of libraries across Australia and showcase the variety of resources, facilities, events and services available to local communities through a range of programs and events.

“I encourage our community to take advantage of the opportunity to rediscover their local library during Library and Information Week and learn more about the many programs, resources and free services available to them,” Cr Hawker said.

“Whether it be participating in National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am on May 25, or simply dropping in to your local branch to see what’s on offer – you’re bound to learn something new or discover a service that you didn’t know about.”

In celebration of Library and Information Week, Council will also host a special PJ Storytime at Glenquarie Library on Thursday, May 26 at 6pm.

During the session, parents, grandparents and families will have the opportunity to experience the joy of reading as a family unit.

With four branch libraries in convenient locations across the city, full of the latest books, magazines, DVDs and lots of other resources to borrow and enjoy, there’s always something interesting to do or take home.

Campbelltown City Library Service offers a range of free programs for residents of all ages – from free technology training sessions and online tutoring, to English conversation groups, free legal talks, tax help sessions, author visits or even home library services.

Membership is available free of charge to every resident or student in Campbelltown City, and valid at branches located in Campbelltown, Ingleburn, Glenquarie or Eagle Vale.

To find out more about how you can take advantage of the free services on offer, visit the library website here, phone 4645 4444, or follow Campbelltown City Library on Facebook.
