Local groups can get funding for capital projects to things like parks and reserves.

Federal Member for Macarthur Russell Matheson is encouraging local community organisations to applying for Stronger Communities Program (SCP) funding.

The local MP says round two of the SCP is now open.

“Round 1 of the Stronger Communities Program has been an incredible success for the Macarthur region,” Mr Matheson said.

“I’m delighted to announce that $150,000 of SCP funding will again be invested in Macarthur in round two for projects that deliver social benefits, support community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of our community.”

SCP grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 will be available for small capital projects in the Macarthur electorate.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate matched funding, in cash or in-kind on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

Successful round one applications included improvements to local sporting ovals and facilities, the purchase of playing uniforms and the provision of new audio-visual equipment.

“I encourage all community organisations to get in touch with my office on 4655 7600 to discuss your ideas and obtain a Project Proposal Form,” Mr Matheson said.

Applications close at 5pm on March 31.
