If your group wants to be part of this year’s Riverfest, you can get cash help.

Celebration Cultural Grants of up to $250 are now available to assist community groups in developing activities, workshops, displays or performances that celebrate the cultural diversity of our city at the annual Riverfest day.

This year’s Riverfest will be held on Saturday, August 27 in Koshigaya Park.

The Campbelltown Local Government Area has a diverse community, with more than 130 different languages spoken in local households, and 18 per cent of the population identifying as being from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Campbelltown City Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from community groups that would benefit from financial assistance and support in developing a cultural diversity project for Riverfest – the city’s annual celebration of a sustainable community.

In addition to the financial support of the grants, participating community groups will be invited to a Community Project Workshop, providing an opportunity to gain skills in the planning and development of their project.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said the grants would be a helpful boost to community groups and organisations that are looking to boost their profile by being part of one of the city’s most unique festivals.

“Riverfest celebrates the cultural and environmental diversity of our city, and is a great opportunity for local community groups to engage with residents and showcase the great work they do,” Cr Hawker said.

“I encourage eligible groups to apply for grant assistance and take advantage of the additional support to help them be part of Riverfest 2016 by offering unique experiences, inspirational workshops or educational displays highlighting our city’s culture,” Cr Hawker added.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest is Friday, June 24.
