Commuterss using Liverpool Station are now benefitting from an additional 19 new car parking spaces on Moore Street.

“The spaces are in addition to the 83 already opened to the public on Bigge Street last year, meaning the NSW Government has delivered more than 100 extra commuter parking spaces at Liverpool Station,” says Holsworthy MP Melanie Gibbons.

The 19 additional spaces were delivered as part of a NSW Government initiative to release 1,200 staff car parking spaces to customers across almost 100 stations.

“This has been a successful initiative with more than 675 extra spaces already provided at over 60 locations across the state, including 12 at Holsworthy,” Ms Gibbons said.

“At Liverpool, the car park surface and line marking has been upgraded, with lighting, CCTV and fencing installed to boost customer safety.

“A lack of parking close to train stations is a big issue for local customers and we are determined to do something about it. We’ll explore every possible option to make improvements,” Ms Gibbons said.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“For example, we’re extending the commuter car park down the road at Holsworthy with an additional 400 spaces about to begin construction, and at Liverpool we took an old construction site on Bigge Street and turned it into a car park.[/social_quote]

“Through our Transport Access Program we’re getting on with the job of delivering improved public transport infrastructure all over south west Sydney,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Customers are already benefitting from the services offered by the new South West Rail Link, which includes 1,250 commuter car parking spaces with the opening of Edmonson Park and Leppington Stations,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Since March 2011, we have delivered more than 3,400 parking spaces across the network, with another 1,600 under construction including former rail staff parking we’ve converted here at Liverpool.

“This is a government that understands the needs of local communities and responds accordingly.

“Whether it’s completing the rollout of Opal, introducing real-time apps, building the South West Rail Link, putting on more services, making sure trains are air-conditioned or upgrading stations and car parks, the NSW Government is transforming public transport for the people of south west Sydney,” Ms Gibbons said.
