One of the questions, if not the main one, local residents are asking about Campbelltown Council’s bid for an A-League licence is: if they are successful, who will run the football club, council?
It’s a good question, much better than some of the ones that have been asked so far.
Unfortunately, council isn’t saying, at least not to the ratepayers whose money is paying the big consultants fees for this bid and current proposals in other areas.
Then again, there’s talk even the councillors have been kept in the dark in the past 18 months or so.

Former council communications staffer Peta Gismondo has moved on after 11 years and is now in a new role as marketing and communications manager at St Vincent de Paul Society (Wollongong Diocesan Central Council).
“I finished up at Campbelltown City Council in early April to commence my new position last week, and I have to say that I’ve been blown away by the work of Vinnies, both across the Wollongong Diocese (Macarthur to Shoalhaven) and the state – it’s way more than just shops,’’ Ms Gismondo wrote in a note attached to a media release.
She said part of her role will be to help educate the wider community on the good works of Vinnies, and how their support makes a tangible impact on the lives of those experiencing disadvantage in our community.
We wish Peta all the best in her new post.

It was also nice to get an email from former local newspaper editor Mandy Perrin, in her new role as deputy communications director of South Western Sydney Local Health District.
Her email was a note alerting the media to a new plan developed to promote the arts in health care across south west Sydney.
The power of music, visual arts and the written word to inspire and bring comfort is at the heart of the plan aimed at promoting health and healing for residents across our region.
The South Western Sydney health and arts strategic plan is being officially launched today, Monday, April 23 at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
Speakers will include therapeutic musician and harpist Jenni Sawell who will discuss how music has brought peace and healing to the patients of the Liverpool Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Local resident Teresa Zamirowski will speak on how her late father Richard and her family received comfort from the creative arts while her father was a patient in palliative care.

Having heard solicitor Jim Marsden enjoys a round of golf these days, we weren’t going to miss the opportunity to ask him about it while interviewing him for a feature on Marsden’s Law Group 50 years in business.
Apart from anything else we saw Jimmy more as a tennis player than a golfer, but we asked anyway, and he nodded, saying, ‘yeah, I go alright’.
