Action from the Under 18 match between Mt Annan/Oakdale and Campbelltown City played on the weekend.

Campbelltown City and Thirlmere have booked their places in the 2017 finals after wins on the weekend – MIKE SHEAN from Macarthur Sports Radio reports:

The Roosters did enough to beat Narellan 40-14 on Saturday night at Crane Oval, while Campbelltown City Kangaroos defeated a gallant Oakdale 46-6 on Sunday afternoon at Sid Sharpe Oval.

Campbelltown set up victory during a 20 minute period in the first half.

In the end it was comfortable win for the visitors despite a determined showing from Oakdale.

The Kangaroos did the damage before the break, when they kicked away to a 28-0 lead, and were pacing the clock in the opening half hour, thanks to that 20 minute damaging period of play.

The Roos, who were without a number of key players, still managed to control the match through their young guns, many of whom are still eligible for the Under 18 competition.

Oakdale, to their credit fought hard all afternoon, and kept Campbelltown City to an 18-6 scoreline in the second half.

Fullback Ryan Clark, who was inserted into the game at halftime, was among the better players for Oakdale, and caused havoc for the City defence all afternoon.

In the only other played during the split round, Thirlmere weren’t overly impressive in their win on Saturday night, but did enough to beat a determined Narellan outfit away from home.

The Roosters blew the game out of the water with a burst either side of halftime, with Jacob Loko, who returned from a long injury break, scoring a first half double for the visitors.

Blake Sutton also starred for the Roosters, with a treble, and captain/coach Jake Mullaney, who was forced off with a hamstring injury, also bagged two for the Roosters.

Narellan, to their credit, kept fighting all night long, and scored the first and last try of the night, with Sou Kamuta and Verb Moemoe crossing for the home side.
