Campbelltown Showground will once again play host to elite rugby when the Sydney Women’s Sevens tournament lands tomorrow (Saturday, March 1).
Matches will start from 11am.
The Sevens follows the huge success of the Waratahs and Brumbies women’s sides clash a couple of weeks ago at the home of the Campbelltown Harlequins rugby union club.
As part of the Waratahs v Brumbies clash, more than 60 boys and girls from across the region took part in a junior “try rugby’’ event (pictured below), before sitting in the grandstand to watch the big game.
But back to tomorrow: All the major Shute Shield clubs, including Campbelltown’s champion women’s side, will be on show.
Spectators can expect to see a number of aspiring female Australian 7s players – and perhaps Olympians – will be participating in the 2025 Sevens tournament at Campbelltown.
Entry through the gate is free, so if you love top quality rugby check out this magnificent tournament in the heart of the Campbelltown CBD.

Following the Sevens tournament, the club season will kick off in earnest with Harlequin trial matches scheduled at the Showground on consecutive weekends, on Saturday, March 22, and a week later on March 29.
Training has been under way for a few weeks as part of pre-season preparations ahead of the new season. However, new players are most welcome at the Harlequins.
All of the competitions the Harlequins will be playing in during 2025, men’s women’s and juniors, will start in early April.
“Our plans this year are to field two men’s teams – possibly three, depending on the numbers,’’ a club spokesperson said.
“And following the success of the women’s team last year, the girls are back in the Sydney First division draw for 2025.
“From a junior perspective our numbers will continue to grow with age groups from Minis through to under 18s,’’ he said.
“From a coaching perspective, we have been lucky enough to retain our club coach Kam Faavaeeli, and our women’s head coach Donny Nepia and their respective coaching teams.’’
