Tomorrow, Sunday, September 10, Campbelltown will have the honour of hosting more than 700 of the state’s most talented junior rugby league players.
The reason so many young champion leaguies will be here?
They will be participating in the first ever Immortals Conference Championship.
Victorious 2017 teams across five age groups will be vying for inaugural Immortals Conference Championship honours.
Three fields, two at Waminda Oval and Campbelltown Sports Stadium, will be the fields of battle for this historic championship.
The 700 players will represent winning under 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 teams from NSWRL Junior League districts such as Manly, Eastern Suburbs, Balmain, St George and Canterbury.
Teams in each age group will compete for the title of Conference Champions.
All up there will be 38 teams competing at Waminda Oval and Campbelltown Stadium for the finals.
Teams will compete in a round-robin format at Waminda Oval before the pool winners from each age division progress to the finals, to be held at Campbelltown Stadium.
NSWRL chief executive officer David Trodden said the inaugural Immortals Conference Championship will provide participating teenagers with the opportunity to compete against some of the best young talent in NSW.
“Days like the inaugural Immortals Conference Championship allow children to excel as footballers without losing sight of the enjoyment, teamwork and values that junior rugby league is all about,” Trodden said.
“It will be a special occasion for the children lucky enough to progress to the finals at Campbelltown Stadium.
“These children will remember this Sunday for a very long time.”
