The Western Sydney Wanderers will play one of their A-League games at Campbelltown Stadium, but they open the season with the local derby against Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium this Saturday that is set to break attendance records.

The Western Sydney Wanderers will play their annual “community round’’ clash at Campbelltown Stadium later in the season.

But in the meantime, the mighty Red &Black Bloc will be part of a record crowd at ANZ Stadium this Saturday night in round one of the A-League.

More than 60,000 fans are expected to pack the stadium when the pride of Western Sydney host cross town rivals Sydney FC.

With Melbourne Victory currently holding the all-time and regular season crowd records with 54,436 and 50,333 against Adelaide United and Sydney FC respectively, the opening round blockbuster has the potential to set two new attendance benchmarks

To ensure fans have easy access to and from Homebush, all tickets, Club Memberships and ANZ Stadium Memberships entitle fans to return travel on trains and buses.

Fans are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the additional and direct public transport services operating, arrive early and enjoy the pre-game activities, including team warm ups from 7pm.

Greg Sleigh, ANZ Stadium’s general manager of event and business development, said the match was being eagerly awaited.

“The historic first Sydney derby at ANZ Stadium has been five years in the making and will be one of the great Sydney sporting events of 2016,’’ Sleigh said.

“We share a vision with the Wanderers for the Sydney derby to become one of the world’s great football derbies and it is only fitting that it is played in front of a massive crowd at Sydney’s Olympic stadium: the venue for so many of Australian football’s greatest moments.”

Sydney Derby celebrations will begin in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct outside ANZ Stadium from 5pm with sponsors NRMA and Hyundai fan zones, family-friendly activities, official merchandise and international themed pop-up cafes and eateries.
It will be the first time a Sydney Derby is played in Round 1, providing the perfect platform to kick-off Sydney Olympic Park’s tenure as home to the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Wanderers will play five major games at ANZ Stadium, eight matches at neighbouring boutique venue Spotless Stadium and one Community Round game at Campbelltown Stadium.
