Camden Tigers made to work hard for victory

Don’t worry about the score: Oran Park gave the Camden Tigers a run for their money when the two sides met in round seven of the women’s M-League competition on the weekend.

The final scoreline, a 6-1 win to the Camden team, does not reflect how hard Oran Park made their opponents work for the three points.

Despite conceding an early goal, Oran Park looked the better of the two sides in the first half, but just couldn’t capitalise on their chances.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead into halftime courtesy of a 9th min strike from Anderson.

The Rovers thought they had finally drawn level early in the second half, only to be denied by some outstanding goalkeeping.

In the end it was Camden’s Golden Boot leader Tenealle Hay who landed the killer blow 12 minutes into the second half.

Hay scored again four minutes later to put the issue beyond doubt at 3-0.

Oran Park kept having a go and got on the scoreboard when Stephanie Haim’s right foot strike from range sailed over the goalkeeper’s head and into the back of the net.

This was the seventh win for the season for the champions from the Camden Tigers, who look certain to be a big chance for honours again this season.

Camden Tigers 6 (T. Hay 2, Anderson 2, A. Ward 1, E. Perriera 1) – Oran Park 1 (S. Haim).
