The scenic Camden Showgrounds, which featured in the 2014 Angelina Jolie movie, Unbroken, will host the annual Camden Show this and Saturday, March 31 and April 1.
The show is among the oldest and biggest events in the historic Macarthur region, having begun in 1886.
It regularly attracts more than 40,000 visitors each year.
Featuring two days of family fun, the event aims to provide a traditional country show experience just one hour from Sydney’s CBD.
Highlights of the show include sheep shearing, show jumping, rodeo, a ute show and a “lumberjack spectacular’’ as well as exhibitions showcasing craft, produce, baking, photography and art from the region. For children, rides, amusements, show bags and an interactive tent – where kids can learn about growing their own food, recycling and protecting the environment – will be on offer.
Hundreds of animals will be on show, including sheep dogs, horses, miniature horses, goats, cattle, chooks, reptiles and alpacas.
Competitions will include a talent quest, a young farmers’ challenge, the search for the best scarecrow, and the prize for the biggest pumpkin.
The show will culminate with a fireworks display on the Saturday night, providing an exciting finish to this great community event.
