Camden Rams hot favourites to win 2024 rugby league premiership

The Camden Rams have emerged as red hot favourites six rounds into the Macarthur Conference rugby league premiership (formerly Group Six).

Last year’s grand finalists have a perfect record so far, six from six.

But Camden also boast an impressive points differential of 204, having scored 246 and conceded just 42.

Oakdale Workers, with four victories so far, are second on the ladder.

Thirlmere Roosters, the Oaks Tigers and Mittagong Lions with three wins each make up the top five.

At the other end of the ladder, the South West Goannas, the team everyone else wanted to see gone from the competition, recorded its second win of the season last weekend.

The Goannas defeated the Campbelltown City Kangaroos 40-26 at Fullwood Reserve.

Following their 34-12 opening round victory over Narellan, the Goannas also drew their match with East Campbelltown 24-24 and lost a close one to Collegians, 34-30 in round four.

That’s a pretty good effort so far from a club that was officially kicked out of the competition last year, but re-admitted after it won an appeal against expulsion.

The Goannas did get heavily beaten by Camden 80-8 in round two, but the Rams will do the same to a few others this season – they’re not red hot favourites to win the premiership for nothing.

The Goannas host The Oaks Tigers at Onslow Oval this Sunday, 3pm kick off.
