Camden Council has recently endorsed a three year partnership with Golf NSW with a view to hosting regional qualifying events for the NSW Open golf championships.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak said that she was delighted that Council has partnered with Golf NSW and has taken a proactive step in promoting Camden as a destination for major sporting events.
“Camden is a wonderful sporting and tourism destination and offers competition standard golfing facilities,’’ the mayor said.
“Events of this scale have the strong potential to attract a large number of visitors to our region and bring significant economic benefits to the region.
“Hosting these events will not only lead to increased visitor spending for our region, it also presents a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Camden’s unique and beautiful attractions.
“This partnership demonstrates Council’s commitment to strengthening and supporting the local tourism industry through partnerships, programs and destination marketing.
“This is a fantastic example of Council’s commitment to economic development in our region and is just one of the many initiatives in place to support local businesses,’’ Cr Symkowiak said.
Council did not specify which of Camden’s golf courses would host qualifying events for the NSW Open Golf Championships.
