Camden Cats host fourth placed East Coast Eagles this Saturday in round nine of the Sydney premiership.
The Cats, who are a couple of wins way from the top four, will be full of confidence after their hard fought six point victory over UTS Bats at Trumper Park, Paddington in round eight.
The game was a tight tussle all day with no more than 16 points separating the teams at any stage of the match.
Sydney Swans Academy player Kyle Veerhuis had his best game for the blue and white hoops this season; playing a dominant role in defence and even managing to sneak up forward for a goal in the second half.
But it was in the midfield where the Cats were able to grind out the tight victory with co-captain Mark Maher showing the Bats that the veteran can still match it with the best in the competition.
Maher was well supported by Lachlan Maples and young gun Jarrod Coomby; while big man Tim Georgiou and half forward Jordan Ware both continued their run of form finishing in Camden’s best players again.
Up forward Josiah Ayling was amongst the goals again with 3 majors for the winners; with young gun Harry Bagot also kicking 3 goals.
Camden Cats goal kickers: J. Ayling 3, H. Bagot 3, J. Coomby 2, J. Ware, K. Veerhuis, C. Passlow, K. Stuart, J. Bannister
Camden Cats best players: K. Veerhuis, M. Maher, L. Maples, J. Coomby, T. Georgiou, J. Ware
The Cats welcome East Coast Eagles to Fairfax Reserve this coming Saturday at 2pm for Camden’s annual #SayNo2DV Ladies’ Day.
