Rose says Bulls ready for physical battle with Brisbane

Liam Rose’s not kidding when he says Macarthur FC have not had the start to the season they wanted.

After eight rounds the Bulls find themselves in third last spot on the ladder, off just two wins so far in the A-League.

On the other hand, their opponents tonight, Brisbane Roar, are in third spot, having lost once so far this season.

This is what the focus of Mile Sterjovski’s side will be tonight at Campbelltown Stadium, Liam said when he fronted the media before training yesterday morning.

That, and the heat, not surprisingly considering the forecast for today is 43C, were the two main subjects for discussion.

“It’s going to be a tough game, because Brisbane play a very aggressive game,’’ Rose said.

“It’s definitely going to be a battle out there, but we’re going into the game ready for battle, to do what we need to do to get those three points.

“A physical approach is part of football, but we will just have to match them, and once we’re on the ball we’ll let football do the talking.

“We have the players that can do a lot on the ball.’’

As for the sauna like conditions expected at Campbelltown Stadium tonight – kick off is currently scheduled for 6pm – Rose said that is part of playing in Australia.

‘We’ll just focus on ourselves, control the game where we can and get the three points,’’ he said.

“You just have to push through heat, and it’s the same for everyone else on the field.’’

This is Rose’s second stint at Campbelltown, having left for a stint in the USA.

He’s really happy to be back.

“It’s a great club, the people from the top down are wonderful, it’s close to where the family live, which is great.

“It feels like home.’’
