The 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets at Campbelltown yesterday afternoon confirmed once again the up and down season of Macarthur FC.
A week earlier the Bulls copped a 4-0 hiding, but kept clean sheets in winning the two rounds previously.
To be fair most A-League clubs seem to be having an inconsistent run this season, with only runaway leaders Melbourne City proving the exception to the rule.
Consistency is one of the things that Macarthur FC coach Dwight Yorke is trying very hard to instil in his team, but so far with mixed results.
Yesterday’s round 11 fixture produced something else Yorke would not have been happy with: a sub par performance from his charges.
Yorke said as much after the match, so the boys can expect to do it tough at training this week ahead of the round 12 clash against the Central Coast Mariners.
The Bulls were lucky to be 1-0 up at the half time break yesterday at Campbelltown Stadium.
Rising star Al Hassan Toure found himself in the right place at the right time to slot the ball past the Jets goalie from five or six metres.
The goal was scored against the run of play, and indeed less than a minute later the Bulls goalie Filip Kurto gave away a penalty.
Luckily for the home side the Jets failed to score, and the Bulls kept their half time lead.
Macarthur Fc were a little more positive in the second half and clinched the three premiership points when their captain, Ulises Davila (pictured above celebrating), calmly scored during a bit of mayhem inside the Jets box 23 minutes from full time.
The Bulls return to Campbelltown this Friday, January 13 for Round 12 when they will host top side Central Coast Mariners, 4-0 winners over Adelaide United on the weekend.
With the Bulls now in fourth spot with 17 points, two points behind second placed Mariners, this has the makings of a classic encounter.
On the other hand, considering the inconsistency this season, anything is possible on Friday night at Campbelltown Stadium.
Which means the fans will get entertainment plus every time.
The match will kick off at 7.45pm.
