Macarthur FC Bulls haven’t kicked a ball yet in the A-League, but will have a special role when the current season’s grand final is played later on today at Bankwest Stadium.

The inaugural coach of the Campbelltown based franchise, Ante Milicic, will present the Joe Marston Medal to the best player of the 2020 grand final between Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

Milicic won that honour almost 20 years ago.

In the 2002 decider, Milicic received the Joe Marston Medal after he scored the winning goal for Sydney Olympic in their 1-0 victory over Perth Glory at Subiaco Oval.

He also won the Johnny Warren Medal in 2003-04 playing for Parramatta Power in the final season of the NSL.

Speaking on the eve of the A-League 2020 grand final, Milicic said he was honoured to be involved in the presentation ceremony.

“Grand finals have a very special place in the career of any footballer,” he said.

“I still vividly remember the feeling of scoring the goal and winning the 2002 NSL grand final with Sydney Olympic and it is still up there as one of my favourite moments in the game as a player.

“I am looking forward to watching the match and then presenting the Joe Marston Medal.

“I wish both teams the best of luck and may the best team win,” Milicic said.

Kick off is from 6.30pm.

The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo Sports and the MyFootball Live App for Telstra mobile customers, with delayed broadcast on ABC Me and iview.
