Bulls back home to host bogey team Wellington Phoenix

Impressive stats this season: Jed Drew at training earlier in the week.

The Bulls bounced back nicely after a loss to Adelaide away ended their unbeaten run across six rounds.

But a 3-1 convincing win in Newcastle seven days later put Macarthur FC back on track towards a finish high up on the ladder.

Tonight, the Bulls return to Campbelltown to host one of their bogey teams, Wellington Phoenix.

Since entering the A-League competition, Macarthur FC have hosted the Nix seven times, losing four of those matches, winning one and drawing two.

Overall, Phoenix have won seven of 12 clashes between the two clubs.

But it’s the home record that will concentrate the mind of Bulls coach Mile Sterjovski for this match.

More than anything, he’s been saying he’d like to see more consistency from his payers, and there’s been an improvement in that area, but there’s a long way to go.

Someone who’s been consistently good in the past few rounds is Bulls number 11, Jed Drew.

The speed demon is third on the A-League goal scorers list with six, two behind Joe Lolley and one behind Hiroshi Ibusuki.

Drew also boasts impressive numbers in goal assists, with 11 so far for the season.

No doubt Wellington will be keen to mark him tight tonight. No other club has so far managed to keep Drew in check so it will be interesting to see what the Nix approach will be tonight at Campbelltown Stadium.

The match will kick off from 7pm.

In other Macarthur FC club news, defender Oliver Jones has extended his contract for a further three seasons.

Rising through the ranks of the Bulls FC Academy, Jones has become a key figure in the team’s defence. The 21-year-old has delivered consistent performances, making six standout appearances this season.

Jones’ strong performances in defence have been crucial to the team’s stability this season, with his ability to read the game and stay calm under pressure making him a key player for the Bulls.
