Macarthur FC go into their big clash with Western Sydney Wanderers on New Year’s Day oozing with confidence after their 3-0 defeat of Glory in Perth on Friday night.

The three points helped the Bulls climb up to fourth spot on the ladder.

It also meant that they are undefeated in their past five games, with two wins and three draws.

Their round 11 rivals are also in the middle of a purple patch, with three wins, a draw and a loss in their past five matches.

With the Wanderers sitting in sixth spot, the New Year’s Day clash at Commbank Stadium (6pm kick off) will be a top of the table clash with more than bragging rights at stake.

The A-League is almost at the halfway mark so every point earned from now on will be vital.

As for the Bulls fans, they will have to wait a few days more to see their heroes at home.

In round 12, Macarthur FC will host Adelaide United at Campbelltown Stadium on Monday, January 6, with a 7pm kick off.

But first things first, and that means cross town rivals Western Sydney on January 1, as Bulls coach Mile Sterjovski pointed out after the 3-0 win in Perth, where young winger Jed Drew scored a double.

“We look forward to going into the Wanderers match with confidence and continue to build consistency into our game,’’ he said.

Jed Drew scored his first goal 27 minutes into the first half, off a counter attacking move by the Bulls.

His incredible speed meant he easily got in behind the defence and had no trouble beating the goalkeeper.

Just six minutes later he was at it again, combining with Kealey Adamson for a second goal.

Sterjovski, asked about Jed Drew’s prospects, said the young winger “had a very good game, and took his chances’’.

“This was a great step forward for him, and if he keeps going this way, improving all the time, he will have a great future,’’ Sterjovski said.
