Macarthur FC begin their defence of the Australia Cup in Darwin and local fans will be able to watch the game against Perth Glory live at Campbelltown RSL on Tuesday, July 18.

Entry will be free to this special event organised by the club to give fans the chance to support the Australia Cup champions. Doors will open from 6.30pm, with kick off an hour later at 7.30pm.

In other club news, Macarthur FC have signed experienced centre-back Matt Jurman for the 2023-24 A-League season.

The 33-year-old – pictured above at the recent Eschol Park FC Pink & Blue fundraiser – bolsters the Bulls backline for the upcoming season, after signing a one-year deal with the Bulls.

With a career spanning over a decade under his belt, the Australian international is renowned as one of the A-League’s most consistent defenders.

A commanding central defender, Jurman is a significant coup for the Bulls’ backline where he’ll add stability, depth and leadership ahead of the new season, which will see the club compete in Asia for the first time in its history.

Jurman has played almost 300 club games in Australia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Greece as well as eight senior international appearances, including being selected in the 2018 FIFA World Cup squad.

During his time with the Socceroos, Jurman worked with Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski and cites his guidance and leadership as a major factor in his decision to move to Macarthur.

“I am really excited to join the Bulls and work under Mile,’’ he said.

Sterjovski says the defender will add to the physicality and authority of the Bulls backline as they compete for honours in the A-League, AFC Cup and Australia Cup this season.

“Matty is a strong defender, a natural leader and adds a lot of experience to our squad,’’ Sterjovski said.

“Having worked with him in the Socceroos, I believe he’ll be a great addition to our backline and is a natural fit for our club.’’

Macarthur FC have also confirmed the departure of winger Daniel Arzani after one season with the club. The 24-year-old requested a release from the final year of his deal with the Bulls to pursue a move to another club.
