Work to deliver a new car park with up to 1,000 additional car parking spaces at Leppington Station will start in the next few weeks with the contract awarded to the A W Edwards company.

Geotechnical work and further site investigations will commence in the coming weeks, before major construction begins on the multi storey car park.

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said the new car park will include up to 1,000 additional car parking spaces for transport customers and is expected to be completed around the middle of next year.

“The commuter car park program is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver accessible public transport infrastructure, which is why we are providing more commuter car parks where they are needed,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

Features of the new car park include:

  • free parking for up to 18 hours with Transport Park&Ride
  • lift access
  • road pavement and pedestrian pathway upgrades
  • CCTV, lighting and wayfinding for improved safety and security
  • provision for electric vehicle charging spaces and motorbike parking is also being assessed.

Transport for NSW is continuing to work with key stakeholders to finalise plans for temporary parking while the new commuter car park is being built.

Upgrades to Leppington and Edmondson Park car parks are part of the NSW Government’s commuter car park program, which is an initiative to provide commuters with more convenient access to public transport at key transport interchanges and help ease congestion on roads.

Since 2011, the NSW Government says it has delivered more than 10,000 commuter car  spaces across Sydney, with around 6,000 additional spaces on the way.
