What would bring the buzz back to our main streets?

Queen Street is in dire need of a makeover.
What do you think: Queen Street is in dire need of a makeover.

What makes a local place such as a main street special to you?

Do you think Queen Street should be transformed into an outdoor restaurant hub that operates late into the night?

What about an ethnic theme for Oxford Road in Ingleburn, say the Italian Corner or Little Chinatown?

As part of considering ways to improve the look and feel of places throughout the area, Campbelltown City Council wants to know what the local residents think.

It has launched a campaign encouraging the community to share their thoughts on what makes a place special.

Input is invited from residents, workers, students, business owners and visitors via a survey which can be found online here and face-to-face interviews in town centres and at special events.

Council is working with PlaceScore to develop the Care Factor 2017 survey and place assessment baseline data.

It says feedback will provide a better understanding of community aspirations and guide investment and activation in Campbelltown’s town centres and main streets.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, encouraged the community to share their vision of the “ideal’’ town centre and places.

“Campbelltown’s population is expected to double to 270,000 people within the next 20 years,’’ he says.

“It is vital council plan for, and prioritise projects in our popular town centres and key community places to attract business investment, and ensure they are places the community can enjoy.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“The survey is like a ‘place census’, and input from as many people as possible is needed to ensure we have a comprehensive view of what is important to our community.[/social_quote]

“I encourage everyone who uses our town centres to visit council’s website, or take time to respond when you see our staff out and about at shopping centres, libraries and special events during the next few weeks,” Cr Brticevic said.

The survey, which takes less than five minutes to complete, will be open until midnight on Wednesday, December 6, and participants have the chance to win one of five $100 vouchers.
