Skipper to the rescue: Clare Koski went straight from a Big Bash League match to Raby to help the Ghosts win their match against Sydney on the weekend.

Some of their stars were away on representative duties, but that didn’t stop a young and brave Camden Campbelltown Ghosts women’s first grade team convincingly winning its T20 match against Sydney on the weekend.

Playing at home, Raby Sports Complex, the Ghosts batted first and put together a solid total of 102 runs, with Rowlings (24) and Austin (18) top scorers.

Skipper Clare Koski arrived late to the game after coming straight from her Thunder BBL game to guide the very young side to a resounding victory by dismissing the full strength Sydney side for 84 runs.

Koski (3/12) and Jenkins (2/16), supported by an enthusiastic fielding effort, led the way in what was a noteworthy victory for the Ghosts women’s first grade.

♦ The Ghosts men’s first grade side clawed their way to an imposing total of 300 when they took on University of NSW on Saturday.

They lost nine wickets in the process but it was still a commendable effort and much better than expected at various stages through the day at Kensington.

Skipper Josh Clarke won the toss and elected to bat, he and Carruthers putting on 61 for the first wicket.

After the departure of Carruthers, the Ghosts lost two more quick wickets without the addition of many runs to be on shaky ground at 3 for 83.

But another strong partnership, this time by Coyte and Gauci provided a nice recovery for the Ghosts and the run tally to a respectable 172.

Coyte made 65 while his partner compiled a handy 41 runs.

The theme of the day continued as more wickets fell in quick succession to have the Ghosts again precariously placed at 6 for 190.

It was followed by – you guessed it – another good partnership, this time by Rogers (43) and Paddinson (55), who retrieved the situation with an 80 run stand, taking the score to 7/269.

Ghosts finished the day on 9/300, giving themselves a good opportunity to dismiss the opposition this coming Saturday and win at least first innings points.

♦ Third grade were away too and batting first compiled a good score of 264 runs with Flynn-Duncombe (67) and Smith (49) starring with the bat. Thirds are now poised to challenge for points next Saturday.

♦ Also playing away were fifth grade who have already taken first innings points by dismissing UNSW for 78 runs and scoring 7 (declared) for 116 in reply. They will play next Saturday shooting for outright points.

♦ Second and fourth grade Ghosts were at home at Raby, which were washed out and they will now play 120 over matches next Saturday.

♦ The Ghosts AW Green Shield boys finished their campaign with a hard fought win over Gordon. After batting first and scoring 137 runs – Vincent Hreszczuk top scoring with 31 – the Ghosts responded with an excellent fielding effort to dismiss Gordon for 113 runs.

Baker, with four wickets for just 20 runs as well as three catches, set the tone and was ably supported by Redman (2/21) and Carlisle (2/26).

♦ Ghosts Poidevin Grey Shield will play their semi final of their competition next Sunday versus Sutherland at Glen McGrath Oval.
