The Camden Cats under 19 division one side has pushed cross town rivals the St George Dragons all the way in a 30 point loss at Olds Park.
Playing in wet conditions, the Cats took it right up to their more fancied opponents in the first half taking a slender two point lead into half time.
The third quarter was fairly even as both teams tried to wrestle control; but the last quarter was all one way traffic as the Dragons piled on five goals to nil to overpower the Cats and take out the match points.
Camden under 17s player Jaykeb Sullivan showed he is more than capable of playing in the higher age group with an outstanding individual performance.
He was well supported in the back half by Patrick Sapiatzer, Nathan Price and Zach Zafosnik, who provided run and carry into the forward line all day.
The Camden Cats’ forwards were lively throughout the game with Patrick Rush and Josh Edwards proving to be strong marking targets in tough conditions; whilst Brendan Coxall slotted two goals on his return to football after injury.
