Bonnyrigg White Eagles will have to overcome Blacktown City FC twice in 14 days to win the 2015 National Premier Leagues premiership. MATTHEW GREENLAW reports:

After the Eagles won 2-0 to book their spot in the NSW Men’s 1 grand final, Blacktown had to overcome APIA Leichhardt yesterday at Lilys Football Centre.

They did more than overcome: in a result that will make Bonnyrigg a little nervous ahead of next Sunday’s decider, Blacktown demolished the Tigers 6-1.

Still, they were the favourites when they met eight days ago and the White Eagles still upset them 2-0.

The grand final should be a ripper.

It is scheduled for 3pm this Sunday at Leichhardt Oval.

Hopefully plenty of Bonnyrigg fans will make the trek to the inner city to support their team.

Yesterday at Lilys Football Centre, Blacktown City FC struck like the wounded beast.

Licking its wounds from the defeat at the hands of the White Eagles, Blacktown City FC were ruthless in disposing of the visitors.

Three goals in each half helped Blacktown ease the pain – as well book their place in the grand final and the chance to avenge their defeat to Bonnyrigg.

City coach Crittenden was delighted with the level of play his side managed, especially after a flat week on the track.

“We were disappointed last week, but not in the way we played and it was an interesting week. On Thursday and Friday we looked a bit flat still,” Crittenden said.

“We stuck to the plan today. They’re very excited in the rooms.

“The boys were good today, training was a bit off, but they got here, they knew what they were here for and you could see the buzz around.

That one game just happens to be a PS4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s 1 Grand Final, and Crittenden will hope his side can find a way to beat the one team that has consistently defied them in 2015 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles.

“We have to be better defensively than we were last week, but if the game itself is anything like it was last week, it will be a great one for the fans.”
