The body of a man found in a park in Picnic Point has been identified as that of 20-year-old Dane McNeill from Narellan.
He has been reported missing last Friday. Police have released images of McNeill over the past few hours.
Strike Force Halfrey, comprising detectives from the Homicide Squad, Bankstown Local Area Command and South West Metropolitan Region, has been formed to investigate Mr McNeill’s death.
No official cause of death has been determined at this stage; however, Mr McNeil had sustained serious burns to most of his body.
Detectives are now trying to piece together Mr McNeill’s last movements and would like to hear from anyone with information concerning Mr McNeill’s movements in the last week.
Investigators would also like to remind members of the public that information can be provided anonymously.
