A seven-year-old girl suffered burns to her leg while escaping a fire that destroyed a home and a car in Blair Athol last night.

The girl was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for treatment.

Emergency services were called to St Simon Close, about 6.30pm following reports of a car well alight in the carport of a home.

Just after midnight, emergency services returned, following reports the roof of the home had re-ignited.

Fire-fighters extinguished the blaze but the home was totally destroyed.

The house was unoccupied at the time and there have been no other reports of injuries.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. Once deemed safe it will be forensically examined.

Although the cause of the fire is yet to be determined it is being treated as suspicious.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
