The newly built Birriwa Outdoor Youth Space in Mt Annan will host Camden Council’s free community celebration for International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) tomorrow, Saturday, December 3.
The celebrations will start from 3pm and continue until 6pm.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak said everyone was invited to come along to this year’s event and help raise awareness of the access issues that people with a disability can face.
“International Day of People with Disability is a day to celebrate the important contributions people with disability make to our community,’’ the mayor said.
“Birriwa Outdoor Youth Space is the perfect place to celebrate and was chosen because of its accessibility focus with a range of playground equipment and picnic furniture designed to be inclusive of disabled users.’’
The event will feature laughter workshops, drumming workshops, activities, stalls, a range of entertainment and a free barbecue.

The IDPwD 2016 theme is Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want and December 3 marks the actual date for International Day of People with Disability.
The day is a United Nations sanctioned day that celebrates progress in breaking down barriers, opening doors, and realising an inclusive society for all.
